The past few years have been a time of profound trials for many of us.
We once genuinely believed that the world would support us in our fight for democratic values. Many sacrificed their freedom, their property, and some even their lives to bring closer the day when every Belarusian could live with freedom and dignity.
But the reality turned out to be much harsher. No one truly cared about us. Thousands of political prisoners were ignored. All the rhetoric about support, human rights, and universal values proved hollow when economic interests were at stake.
Instead of receiving support, Belarusians faced closed doors in Europe. Obtaining visas became even more complicated and humiliating, and the costs skyrocketed. Bank accounts belonging to Belarusians were frozen, and small and medium-sized businesses encountered insurmountable barriers.
This period was one of disillusionment, but also one of awakening. We came to understand that those who speak the loudest about friendship and support are often the first to prioritize their own interests. Much of the funding meant to support the democratic movement and political prisoners ended up in the hands of opportunistic political schemers and their foreign patrons.
Yet, despite everything, we continued to dream — steadfast in our belief that change was possible. The fight for freedom in Syria in 2024 reignited our hope, serving as a powerful reminder that even in the face of immense suffering and trials, the unwavering pursuit of justice and liberty can bring about transformative change.
Let 2025 be the year of transformation! May it bring us all inspiration, confidence, and strength to create a new Belarus.
Let it be the year when the war between Russia and Ukraine ends, allowing millions of refugees to return home!
A year when all political prisoners in Belarus are finally freed! These brave individuals sacrificed everything, including their freedom and health, for the prosperity of the nation. They are true heroes, and in the new Belarus, they will receive the honor and respect they have earned through their selfless dedication to their homeland.
Let 2025 be the year when law and order return to Belarus! No one, regardless of their position, should be above the law. No one, regardless of their social or economic standing, should be denied its protection.
Let 2025 be the year when Belarus begins to reclaim what was stolen — our freedom, our rights, our homeland, and our future! A year when hundreds of thousands of Belarusians, forced to live in exile, can finally return home, bringing with them the knowledge and experience gained abroad, which will be invaluable in building a free, strong, and prosperous country.
Together, we will create a nation that respects human dignity and provides opportunities for everyone to thrive. And for this to become a reality, take care of yourselves and cherish your loved ones!
Happy New Year, friends!
